Michigan softball’s return to playing at Alumni Field has been delayed.
The Wolverines’ home-opening series against Michigan State that was set to begin Friday has been postponed because of COVID-19 protocols, the Michigan program announced Thursday morning.
The programs are working with the Big Ten to determine rescheduling options. Big Ten teams are playing a 44-game, conference-only schedule this season. There will not be a Big Ten Tournament.
Michigan is 13-3, ranked No. 23 and leads the nation in ERA at .87.
It has been nearly 22 months since the Michigan has played a game on Alumni Field, its 2020 season canceled as the Wolverines were preparing to open their home schedule last March.
