ANN ARBOR -- Michigan's softball team earned some notable Big Ten honors on Wednesday.
Freshman left-hander Meghan Beaubien was named the conference's Pitcher of the Year, while Carol Hutchins claimed her 17th Big Ten Coach of the Year honor.
Hutchins, coaching the Wolverines for her 34th season, guided (43-10, 18-3) the team to its 10th Big Ten title in the past 11 years.
Beaubien leads the nation in wins with a 32-3 record and is fifth with a 0.90 ERA. The Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central graduate has struck out 245 in 195 1/3 innings and was 16-1 during conference play.
