OKLAHOMA CITY — All throughout its dominant season, the Michigan softball team scored early and often. Heading into Friday night’s matchup against No. 10 LSU, the second-ranked Wolverines scored an average of 8.62 runs game, highest in the nation.
Yet the Tigers were unfazed. Right-hander Allie Walljasper stymied the Wolverines, allowing three hits, rarely allowing the ball out of the infield.
In the sixth inning, though, Michigan hit it past the infield twice. And that was all it needed. Behind the stellar pitching of Megan Betsa, the Wolverines outlasted the Tigers 2-0 at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium.
