Top-seeded Michigan was upset by second-seeded Minnesota, 4-3 in 10 innings, in the Big Ten softball tournament final on Saturday night at Beard Field in University Park, Pa.
The win gives the Golden Gophers the conference’s automatic berth to the NCAA tournament.
U-M (46-5) had three separate leads, but Minnesota (41-12) answered in the bottom half of each inning after U-M scored.
In the bottom of the 10th inning with runners on first and second, Minnesota's Danielle Parlich grounded a ball to shortstop, but a Wolverines fielding error allowed the winning run to score ahead of the throw home.
