ANN ARBOR -- Michigan's Carol Hutchins is the winningest softball coach in NCAA history, but possibly her most notable victory came on Monday off the field.
The Wolverines' softball team became the first women's collegiate team to raise $1 million for the American Cancer Society.
"I think it is one of the greatest things we have done here as far as giving back to the community and giving back to society," Michigan's 34th-year head coach said Tuesday following the team's 8-2 loss to Western Michigan at Alumni Field.
"It is the one thing that I feel really strongly about, that these student-athletes need to realize the world isn't about them.
