When Jordan Taylor saw her mother rip through the ball, she had to step back.
It was during one of the Michigan Softball Academy’s first years and, instead of cheering on her All-America daughter, Marjorie Taylor was showing her how it was done.
“In one of the scrimmages, she hit this ball really hard, and I said: ‘What is happening?’ ” Jordan Taylor said this week, the memory vivid. “She said, of course: ‘Where do you think you get it from?’ ”
Marjorie told her she had a softball background (“she played slow-pitch growing up but I don’t remember it,” Jordan Taylor said, laughing), but this was more than talk.
