SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Michigan's season opener didn't get off to a great start defensively.
And now the Wolverines have lost a starting defensive back.
Safety Josh Metellus was ejected with 9:06 left in the first quarter Saturday for head-to-head contact with Notre Dame tight end Alize Mack.

Mack caught a 26-yard pass from quarterback Brandon Wimbush on the play, but felt the brunt of a hit from a streaking Metellus across the field.
