Michigan rivalry with Notre Dame getting 'bigger' after another 1-goal game

ANN ARBOR -- Michigan's hockey team circled Saturday's game against Notre Dame when the schedule was released back in May.

The Wolverines would open Big Ten play against the team that eliminated them in the Frozen Four last season with a game-winning goal with under six seconds remaining.

No. 14 Michigan got its redemption Saturday, holding on for a 2-1 victory over No. 6 Notre Dame in front of 5,800 fans at Yost Ice Arena.

"I definitely think there is more emotion in this game," said Michigan forward Jake Slaker, who scored the game-tying goal at the 3:54 mark of the second period.
