Michigan remains No. 5 in both polls

Michigan, which was idle this week, maintained its No. 5 ranking Sunday in both the Associated Press college football poll and the Amway coaches’ poll.

In the coaches' poll, however, Michigan is tied with Georgia as both received 1,295 points.

The top six teams are No. 1 Alabama, followed by Clemson, Notre Dame, LSU, and then Michigan and Georgia.

The top six are the same in the AP poll.

Michigan State, which defeated Purdue 23-13, earned 51 points in the AP poll and 48 in the coaches' but is still outside the top 25.

The Wolverines (7-1 overall, 5-0 Big Ten) return to action this Saturday with a 3:45 p.
