When Michigan picked up a commitment from 2016 four-star athlete Ahmir Mitchell (Egg Harbor City, N.J) Thursday night, it gained not only a large threat at wide receiver, but a player who could have a similar impact on the defensive side of the ball.
Mitchell was recruited by passing game coordinator Jedd Fisch and secondary coach Mike Zordich primarily as a wide receiver, but he’s also an established safety in the high school game.
He played both positions at a Nike camp in April and said last year he feels like an all-around athlete who doesn’t mind going where needed on the field.
