Los Angeles — There’s ugly wins. And then there’s what Michigan pulled out on Saturday.
The third-seeded Wolverines had more turnovers than made field goals in the first half. They missed 18 3-pointers and several key free throws in the final minutes.
But as Michigan has done all season, it leaned on its defense to grind out a 58-54 win over No. 9 seed Florida State at Staples Center to advance to the Final Four for the first time since 2013.
Michigan will play No. 11 seed Loyola-Chicago in a national semifinal next Saturday in San Antonio.
