ANN ARBOR -- He may not be atop the depth chart at running back, but Kareem Walker has quietly made a name for himself in preseason camp.
And that's more than he could have claimed this time last year.
Michigan's redshirt freshman has followed up an impressive spring with a series of uninterrupted practices this month, doing enough to warrant discussion of playing time this fall.
"Just improved in every regard," Michigan running backs coach Jay Harbaugh said on Monday. "He's healthy, he has a better grasp of the playbook. He's running like the physical presence that we need him to be, because he is a bigger back and can come downhill with some force.
