ANN ARBOR -- A Michigan football player had to be carted off the field Saturday night following a gruesome hit during a fourth-quarter kick return.
Berkley Edwards, a fifth-year senior running back, was on the receiving end of a helmet-to-helmet hit from Indiana linebacker Cam Jones with 6:03 remaining.
Edwards laid on the Michigan Stadium field for several minutes, before Michigan trainers removed his pads and helmet and placed him on a stretcher. He appeared to be conscious.
Cam Jones was flagged for targeting and, after further review, ejected from the game to a chorus of boos from the 110,118 in attendance.
