ANN ARBOR -- While Wilton Speight and John O'Korn try and one-up their way to the starting quarterback job at Michigan, they've also had to familiarize themselves with a new snapper.
Fifth-year senior Patrick Kugler has been tapped to play center in 2017 following Mason Cole's move to left tackle. That means Speight and O'Korn must learn a new set of hands, develop timing and grow comfortable with transitioning the football ahead of Michigan's season opener Sept. 2 against Florida.
And so far, so good, both players say.
"He's taken tremendous strides," said Speight, who started in 12 of Michigan's 13 games last season.
