The grass stains told the story.
The last time we saw Michigan quarterback Wilton Speight play a football game, there were grass stains on both of his elbows, on both hips and on his butt. His lip was split and swollen. He had taken a beating in a 33-32 loss against Florida State in the Orange Bowl.
After that game in which he was sacked four times, he decided to lose some weight.
To get more mobility.
To get quicker in the pocket.
To avoid, well, being a walking pinata.
So he dropped 23 pounds.
