Michigan QB Shea Patterson a finalist for QB of the year award

He may not be up for the Heisman, but Shea Patterson is putting together one impressive season at Michigan.

The junior quarterback has completed nearly 67 percent of his passes for 1,927 yards and 17 touchdowns and just three interceptions, garnering the second-highest rating among Big Ten quarterbacks.

Those numbers, combined with Michigan's No. 4 ranking this season (9-1, 7-0 Big Ten), has turned Patterson into a finalist for a prestigious national honor.

The Shreveport, La., native is one of five quarterbacks left standing for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, it was announced Thursday by the award's educational foundation.
