Michigan players react to Shea Patterson being named starting QB

ANN ARBOR -- With the decision made and in the rear-view window, Michigan's new-look offense can settle in behind starting quarterback Shea Patterson.

The announcement -- made Monday by head coach Jim Harbaugh at an M Club luncheon in Ann Arbor -- marks a contrast from previous years, including 2017 when the quarterback competition came down to the final day.

And players who were on that team last season say it makes a difference.

"I mean, I think that helps," second-year receiver Tarik Black told reporters on Tuesday. "Because you want to get that QB in so you can kind of build a bond and not (have) to work on timing with two different quarterbacks.
