ANN ARBOR -- Football may have been the focus over the weekend, but nearly a dozen members of the Michigan football team had Hurricane Irma on their minds.
Eleven players on Michigan's 2017 roster call Florida home, the state battered by the category-3 storm that killed at least 12 people and cut power to five million people.
Josh Metellus' mom was one of them. The Michigan safety from Pembroke Pines, Florida, a town of about 150,000 between Fort Lauderdale and Miami, says he's only been able to talk to her every other day since Friday.
"She can't charge her phone," Metellus said.
