For most of the Michigan football team, next week’s focus is on experiencing Rome, Italy.
The Wolverines will spend nine days there seeing all the famous sights and practicing a bit.
About 20-to-25 Wolverines are looking past that, though, as they’ll study abroad for a few weeks following the trip, as coach Jim Harbaugh intended.
The chance for the players to branch out on their own following the trip was Harbaugh’s stated emphasis, giving them a boost they would never consider otherwise.
Each player made a different choice for an individual reason. Some were spurred by curiosity, some by academics, some by a world interest.
