Ann Arbor – Michigan players said they understand decisions made by Stanford’s Christian McCaffrey and LSU’s Leonard Fournette, running backs who are opting out of playing for their teams in upcoming bowl games to focus on preparing for the NFL draft.
But the UM players can’t see themselves making a similar decision.
McCaffrey announced Monday he will skip the Sun Bowl, while three days earlier Fournette had said he would not play in the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl.
Michigan is preparing to face Florida State in the Orange Bowl on Dec. 30.
“They have their own opinions and reasons why they did it,” Michigan senior defensive lineman Matt Godin said Tuesday.
