ANN ARBOR -- Michigan 34-year head softball coach Carol Hutchins knows exactly what she is looking for when recruiting pitchers.
"We want pitchers who can help us get to the World Series," said Hutchins, who has guided the Wolverines to 12 College World Series appearances and a national championship in 2005.
There are various factors Hutchins uses when evaluating a pitcher's ability, and some young players might take longer than others to display their potential.
Hutchins didn't even need to see freshman Meghan Beaubien throw a single pitch for Monroe St. Mary Catholic High School to know she had the potential to be special.
