Michigan offers Juwan Howard head coaching job, deal being negotiated

Juwan Howard could be on his way to finalizing a role as Michigan basketball's new head basketball coach.

Per a source with direct knowledge of the situation, Michigan formally offered its head coaching job to Howard on Wednesday morning. Though, as of late morning, the deal was still being negotiated.

Nothing, a source told the Free Press, had been signed by either party as of late morning.

Around 11:30 a.m., Howard's wife, Jenine, sent out a simple message:

Howard first departed Michigan 1994 to embark on a 19-year NBA career. He was, of course, a key member of Michigan’s famed Fab Five recruiting class.
