Michigan advanced to 2-1 on the season on Saturday by defeating Arkansas State in its final non-conference game of 2024. It wasn’t pretty, as the Wolverines only managed a 10-point victory, but a win is a win nonetheless.
Following the win, Michigan dropped a spot in the AP poll, going from No. 17 to No. 18, but Bill Connelly and ESPN were a little more bullish on the Wolverines, as they moved up a spot from No. 12 to No. 13 in the latest edition of the SP+ rankings.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with SP+, Connelly describes it as, “a tempo and opponent-adjusted measure of college football efficiency” that takes into account a team’s efficiencies in all three phases of the game.
