IOWA CITY, Iowa – All Michigan wanted was a chance.
The Wolverines got two of them Sunday at Iowa’s Carver-Hawkeye Arena, at the end of regulation and the end of overtime and couldn’t cash in either one, leading to a 86-83 overtime loss to the Hawkeyes in the Big Ten opener.
That wasted D.J. Wilson’s career-best 28-point, 14-rebound game and left the Wolverines lamenting a missed opportunity to steal a Big Ten road game.
Michigan (10-4, 0-1 Big Ten) fell to 0-3 in true road games this season – now with five straight losses to Iowa and winless here since 2011 -- because when given the ball in crunch time, the execution vanished.
