The only thing more steady than the rain on Saturday afternoon at Casey Stadium in Albany, New York, was Duke’s Brennan O’Neill. And just as an umbrella is eventually overwhelmed in a storm, so too was Michigan men’s lacrosse by O’Neill.
The All-American junior nearly matched the Wolverines’ scoring output by himself in the NCAA tournament quarterfinals, as the Blue Devils advanced to the semifinals with a 15-8 win. Duke will face Sunday’s winner between Big Ten regular-season champ Penn State and Army, which upset 2022 champion Maryland last weekend, in the semifinals May 27 in Philadelphia.
