Michigan lands 4-star point guard Xavier Simpson

Michigan lost out on Cassius Winston but won on Xavier Simpson.

Simpson, a four-star point guard from Lima, Ohio, on Wednesday committed to the Wolverines.

The timing could not have been better for John Beilein and the Wolverines, who lost out on Winston, a star point guard from U-D Jesuit High, earlier Wednesday.

Winston eliminated Michigan in his recruitment and wrote on Twitter that his three finalists were, in no order, Michigan State, Pittsburgh and Stanford.

Simpson (5-10, 155 pounds) is ranked the No. 12 point guard in the nation and the No. 1 point guard in Ohio by Scout.
