Michigan hopes to parlay bowling alley tussle into Outback Bowl win

TAMPA, Fla. -- Players on the Michigan football team are hoping to turn a scuffle with South Carolina into a season-ending victory.

Officers with Florida Highway Patrol had to separate the two teams during an Outback Bowl-sponsored event Wednesday night at Splitsville, a trendy bowling alley in downtown Tampa.

No punches were thrown, and no arrests were made, but there was plenty of explicit language thrown around from both sides -- and Michigan hopes to parlay that into Monday's bowl game at Raymond James Stadium (noon, ESPN2).

"Just friendly trash talk," said Michigan safety Tyree Kinnel.
