New York — Madison Square Garden has been like a home away from home for Michigan.
On Saturday, it felt nothing like it due to an invasion of loud and rowdy Rutgers fans.
But a career game from sophomore forward Brandon Johns Jr. and a stout defensive effort kept them quiet as Michigan held on for a 69-63 win over No. 25 Rutgers.
Johns finished with 20 points — 15 in the first half — for Michigan (13-8, 4-6 Big Ten), which was without junior forward Isaiah Livers for the eighth time this season because of injury.
