ANN ARBOR -- Captain Tony Calderone scored the game-winning goal in Michigan's 4-2 victory over No. 1 Notre Dame on Friday.
The senior forward delivered the game-winner against the Irish once again on Sunday, scoring his 17th of the season with 38 seconds remaining in the second period at Yost Ice Arena.
Sophomore goalie Hayden Lavigne shut the door the rest of the way, making 34 saves, including several big ones in the final 3 minutes, to preserve a 1-0 victory for the 18th-ranked Wolverines.
This weekend was the first time Notre Dame (22-8-2, 15-5-1-1 Big Ten) had been swept all season, and the two wins greatly improve Michigan's chances of getting an at-large bid into the 16-team NCAA tournament.
