Michigan hockey advances to Frozen Four for first time since 2011

WORCESTER, Mass. — A seven-year wait is over for the University of Michigan men’s hockey program.

The Wolverines are back in the Frozen Four for the first time since 2011 after a 6-3 win over Boston University on Sunday afternoon at the DCU Center.

Michigan will join semifinal opponent Notre Dame, along with Minnesota-Duluth and either Denver or Ohio State at the Frozen Four on April 5 in St. Paul, Minn.

Jake Slaker scored the game winner at 6:23 of the third period. Slaker scooped up the puck at the BU blue line and skated into the slot, where his shot deflected off a defender’s stick and through the legs of goalie Jake Oettinger to break a 3-3 tie.
