ANN ARBOR -- New Michigan run game coordinator Greg Frey has been given a three-year contract by the school that's worth at least $1.5 million in total.

Frey signed a memorandum of understanding with Michigan on Jan. 19 -- which was obtained by MLive via a Freedom of Information Act request -- that outlined the basics of a three-year contract that will pay the coach $500,000 annually.

His deal -- with the title of run game coordinator/tight ends and tackles coach -- would expire on Jan. 11, 2020. If Frey is fired by Michigan due to "unsatisfactory performance" before the close of the contract, he'll receive the remaining base salary left on the deal as compensation.
