The departure of defensive back Daxton Hill, who passed on his remaining eligibility to enter the NFL draft, left the Wolverines without an obvious replacement at the all-important nickel position. A remarkably clean bill of health in the U-M secondary last season meant defensive pass game coordinator Steve Clinkscale was rarely asked to test his unit’s depth.
