Michigan football’s running back room was filled with uncertainty entering 2019.
The Wolverines had to replace Karan Higdon, the team’s first 1,000-yard rusher since 2011. Chris Evans, a productive and reliable secondary option who seemed tailored for the team’s new offense, was thrown off the team. And in spring practices, U-M often had as few as two healthy scholarship running backs as multiple players sat with injuries.

But since then, the Wolverines have found two young, promising players in Zach Charbonnet and Hassan Haskins, who combined for 270 carries for 1,348 yards and 15 touchdowns despite entering the season with zero previous collegiate carries.
