Josh Gattis had never been an offensive coordinator before.

Then Jim Harbaugh hired him to be just that for Michigan football.

The offseason move was a leap for both sides. The Wolverines charged a first-time play-caller with reshaping their offense. Gattis left Alabama to direct the offense for an offensively-minded head coach who had always made the final call.

So far, so good.

"I’m excited with what we were able to do this spring," Gattis said Sunday at the Best of the Midwest camp at Grand Valley State.
