ROME – Michigan tackle Grant Newsome walked slowly across the beach, wearing a walking boot. There was a scar on his knee and an indent on his right leg where a surgeon removed a chunk of his calf muscle.
“It’s great, just being back with the guys,” Newsome said Tuesday afternoon in Rome, speaking to the media for the first time since he suffered a life-threatening knee injury.
A situation that was so serious he was minutes from losing his right leg.
He is doubtful that he will play this upcoming season, but hopeful he will be on the field in 2018.
