Michigan cornerback Ambry Thomas might be one step closer to returning to the field.

Thomas, who has missed time while dealing with colitis, tweeted Thursday afternoon that he has begun practicing with the team, which spokesman Dave Ablauf confirmed.

It's the latest development in a recovery process that has no specific timetable.

When Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh last spoke, he said Thomas had been diagnosed with colitis and was out indefinitely.
