Free Press sports writer Orion Sang provides five takes on Michigan football's 2020 recruiting class:
Capitalizing on new rule
Before the 2019 and 2020 cycles, recruits were allowed to take official visits during their senior year. The NCAA, though, extended that visit period, giving prospects a chance to take officials between April 1 through the Sunday before the last Wednesday of June. And just like during the 2019 cycle (the first year the change was implemented), Michigan's staff leveraged that lengthier visit period with the 2020 recruiting class.
Between June 21-23, the Wolverines hosted most of their top targets for visits — and landed nine recruits (36% of their class) either during that weekend or in the days following.
