The quarterback position is the most important on the field and for the Michigan football team, having a great one used to be a running big blue tradition.
From the likes of Jim Harbaugh to Elvis Grbac, Todd Collins, Brian Griese, Tom Brady, Drew Henson and Chad Henne, Michigan football has had a stable of talented quarterbacks.
However, that began to change with Rich Rodriguez and when Harbaugh took over for Brady Hoke, the future of the position was in decline, with Wilton Speight and Shane Morris, embedded on the depth char.
Both players are still in the mix for the starting job, particularly Speight, but at this point, neither appears to be the long-term answer and that’s probably a good thing.
