QB J.J. McCarthy: After the level of play McCarthy displayed against Hawaii, his stock probably couldn’t be any higher. Not only did McCarthy emerge victorious in his quarterback competition with incumbent Cade McNamara, but he made it look easy. McCarthy completed all but one of his 12 passes for 229 yards and three touchdowns. His only incompletion came on an in-breaking route to Ronnie Bell that deflected off the receiver’s hands and could have been caught, even if it was thrown slightly behind him.
