Thomas' 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown was the only positive spark in an otherwise dreadful first half of football and, for the most part, it was a terrific individual effort. Thomas improved steadily with his kick return vision last season and while chances will be limited with new rules this year, Michigan at least seems to have some explosion back there with an athlete who can make something happen.
