Just a couple of days before spring practice begins, Michigan football reportedly has one new hole to fill on its coaching staff.
Linebackers coach Brian Jean-May has told players and co-workers that he is leaving to join Tennessee, according to 247Sports.
Jean-May signed a two-year deal with U-M last winter in which he was scheduled to make $450,000 for the 2021 season. His contract called for Jean-May to pay a buyout at a rate of !00% of their annual base salary if he left for another job.
But Tennessee, which hired Josh Heupel last month after firing Jeremy Pruitt after an internal investigation, is willing to pay Jean-May's buyout, according to 247Sports.
