Michigan football appears to have filled one of its two staff openings.
The Wolverines are reportedly hiring Bob Shoop as a defensive assistant coach, according to The Athletic's Bruce Feldman.
Shoop, 53, was the defensive coordinator and safeties coach at Mississippi State over the past two seasons. He has a long track record coaching at the Power 5 level.
From 2016-17, he was the defensive coordinator at Tennessee on former coach Butch Jones' staff. Before that, Shoop was the defensive coordinator and safeties coach at Penn State from 2014-15 under James Franklin, who he also coached with at Vanderbilt from 2011-13.
