Michigan football reportedly hires Josh Gattis as offensive coordinator

Free Press sports writer Nick Baumgardner breaks down what happened in Michigan football's 41-15 loss to Florida in the Peach Bowl on Dec. 29, 2018.

Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh has reportedly settled on an offensive coordinator.

And he’s coming from Alabama.

Josh Gattis, who spent the 2018 season as Alabama’s co-offensive coordinator/wide receivers coach, has been hired by Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh to serve as the Wolverines’ new offensive coordinator. The news was first reported by The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman and Chris Vannini.

Michigan has not yet responded to a request for comment.

Gattis, who will turn 35 on Tuesday, has made five coaching stops during his career – he spent three years as a wide receivers coach at Penn State prior to heading to Alabama.
