Michigan football reportedly hires defensive assistant Anthony Campanile

Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh is working on shifting gears with his coaching staff this week.

A day after hiring Josh Gattis to be his new offensive coordinator, Harbaugh has reportedly hired Boston College co-defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile to be a defensive assistant coach with the Wolverines.

The news was first reported by 247sports. Michigan has not replied to a request for comment.

Campanile has experience as a defensive backs coach, though he could wind up coaching U-M's outside linebackers. Current safeties coach Chris Partridge has coached both defensive backs and linebackers as well.
