Christian Turner became the first known Michigan football player to opt out of the 2020 season, announcing his decision via Twitter on Tuesday afternoon.
"I have decided to opt out of the season due to Covid 19," Turner wrote.
Turner's decision comes as the fate of college football hangs in limbo, with players and coaches fighting for a season as university officials deliberate whether to cancel play due to concerns over the coronavirus pandemic.
