Michigan Football: Predicting the running back depth chart

Last year Michigan football had the luxury of ‘blood n guts’ De’Veon Smith leading the backfield. OK, so he didn’t have the best speed. And it often seemed like he couldn’t quite find the hole. But he had the confidence of JH, Ty Wheatley Sr. and the rest of the coaching staff.

Why? He did the little things well, especially pass protection. He ran hard. Chris Evans was able to come in late and get some pretty runs, in some measure, because De’Veon had loosened up the opposing D somewhat in the first quarter.

Evans had a great rookie campaign for Michigan football.
