Michigan football redshirt freshman offensive lineman James Hudson has decided to leave the U-M football program and pursue a transfer.
U-M football spokesman Dave Ablauf confirmed the news to the Free Press on Monday night.
Hudson, a 6-foot-5, 301-pounder from Toledo, transitioned from defensive tackle to the offensive line after signing with the program in 2017. He redshirted last season and worked mainly at right tackle entering the 2018 season.
Michigan's coaching staff had high hopes for Hudson's future, as he saw snaps at right tackle against Western Michigan, Nebraska and Maryland.
"In James' case, it was good to see him play good in the game.
