Michigan football notes: South Africa, night games, alternate jerseys

ALLENDALE, Mich. -- Despite the potential logistical challenges, Michigan's planned trip next spring to South Africa is a go.

At least, that's what Jim Harbaugh says.

"It's full speed (ahead)," Harbaugh told reporters on Sunday at Grand Valley State University, site of the "Best of the Midwest" camp. "The only foreseeable obstacle ... it'd be 17 hours from Atlanta to Johannesburg.

"We're trying to make it - hopefully we can make it longer, and tie some course credit into it as well. That's some of the things that we're working out."

Harbaugh went on the radio last month and made the trip all but official, declaring South Africa as the destination for the team's next trip abroad.
