Michigan football notes: Ben Mason sticks with offense for now

ANN ARBOR -- After flirting with the idea of becoming a two-way player in 2018, Ben Mason is sticking with the offensive side of the football.

For now, at least.

The Connecticut sophomore said earlier this week he's only taken reps in fall camp at fullback, a position he primarily played in 2017.

"Right now, I'm not playing any defense in camp," Mason said. "But if I'm needed for the team, I'm definitely willing to play."

Head coach Jim Harbaugh said in March there were plans for the 6-foot-3, 254-pound Mason to split reps this fall at linebacker, the position he was originally recruited for out of high school.
