ANN ARBOR - Michigan had 81 student-athletes named to the fall Academic All-Big Ten teams on Wednesday and the football team led the way with 23 selections.
The total is five more than the 76 the Wolverines had selected last fall and the football team's representation increased by four from last year's 19. Michigan's total has increased every fall but one since 2009 and is up from 41 selections in 2009.
In order to be earn Academic All-Big Ten honors, individuals must letter in a sport, be in at least their second academic year and maintain a GPA of at least 3.
